発言のバランス

Instructor’s Task

In this scenario, you will be portraying the role of Miyuki, an engineer who tends to hold back on expressing opinions during project decision-making, despite having valuable insights. During the 1-on-1 meeting, your manager (student) will advise Miyuki on how to strike a balance between contributing to the team and effectively sharing her opinions, while being mindful of diverse cultural perspectives. Instructions for portraying Miyuki:

1) Convey Miyuki’s tone with a mix of reservation and a desire to grow.

2) As Miyuki, express your awareness of holding back opinions and your wish to contribute more effectively to the team’s success.

3) Share any cultural factors that might be influencing your tendency to be reserved without dwelling on them excessively.

4) Be open to your manager’s guidance on techniques to voice opinions assertively and constructively within the team.

5) Conclude the conversation by demonstrating your commitment to actively participating in discussions, learning from the team, and enhancing your contributions.

Your involvement in this role-play will greatly enrich our understanding of promoting effective communication and collaboration.

It would be great if you could give the student constructive feedback and advice after the role play, especially on better ways to say this and that.
